Advantages of Driving a Hybrid
Disadvantages of Hybrid Ownership
Steeper Initial Cost
Although driving a hybrid will save you money in the long run, you can expect to see a higher average price for hybrid vehicles compared to gas-powered models. While the price difference is decreasing as more affordable hybrid options hit the market, it is still a factor worth keeping in mind. The great value a hybrid gives you over time can help compensate for this initial cost, however.
Fewer Model Selections
Hybrids are more popular than ever, and manufacturers are responding to that increasing demand by offering more models with a hybrid option. However, not every model is available with a hybrid powertrain. Your options will be slightly limited by this availability, especially if you’re interested in a heavy-duty pickup truck or larger SUV.
Still Some Emissions
While hybrids are a more eco-friendly choice than gas-powered vehicles, they still use some gasoline and generate some emissions. Further removing your reliance on gasoline for your automotive needs requires a purely electric vehicle, which is typically more expensive than your hybrid options. Either way, hybrids are still a more eco-friendly choice than a gas powered vehicle.
